BARC SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Thanks to the generosity of our extended BARC family of sponsors and supporters at our Annual Fall Festival event each October, we are VERY proud to share we have raised nearly $15K this year, and growing, as we work hard to increase sponsors and advertising companies to enhance Scholarship Opportunities for the upcoming 2020 calendar year.

WHY DO WE DO THIS?

Eric Striesfeld grew up in a blue collar family. His mom was a special education public school teacher and his dad worked in a variety of jobs from convenience stores to jewelry sales. Along with his 2 sisters, the family of 5 grew up working just to get by.  Eric held jobs as early as grade school selling candy, as well as, running his own lawn maintenance service in the neighborhood with close friends. He later worked as a sacker at the local grocery store, and umpired little league baseball throughout high school.

“We did not have the resources for private lessons and my first formal professional tennis instruction came at 15 years old by helping the local club teaching pros on court teaching young kids in exchange for lessons. I grew up playing all sports from baseball to basketball and football but tennis quickly became my passion!! From the time I made the commitment to tennis at age 15 until today at age 40, the passion continues and runs deep!! The sport of tennis is the most exhilarating individual sport in the world and allows players to find themselves on the court!
We are so thankful and proud to be able to offer these scholarship opportunities as  I have always said I never want a child to feel they cannot learn the sport of tennis simply because they don’t have the necessary financial resources in their family!”

Who Should Apply and How

Scholarships are available on a financial need basis first and foremost. They are also based on merit for high level tennis athletes achieving state and national rankings.

All families must apply and complete the application process including but not limited to completion of all forms providing tax documents, etc. We do this to ensure all Scholarship dollars that are raised go to families showing substantial financial need.

Scholarships are applicable towards junior academy classes (all ages and levels) as well as summer and holiday break camps.
